Khon Kaen To Phuket On Thai AirAsia

Booked a flight yesterday on Thai AirAsia that will be a unique experience for me. This will be the first time I have taken a domestic flight to somewhere other than Bangkok and didn’t have to go through Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Khon Kaen to Phuket

An early morning flight that will have me in Phuket at 0925 and then on to Khao Lak which should take another hour or so. The best part of this no stopping in Bangkok. Now, Don Mueang Airport isn’t bad for a short layover, but Suvarnabhumi sucks. The biggest pain at either airport is having to collect checked bags and then getting in line at departures to check in.  There are times when lines can be quite long. I will miss getting some Garrett’s carmel corn though.

Flight prices were reasonable also. Roundtrip with all taxes and fees plus 25 Kg baggage came to about 3,200 baht. I think the last time I flew to Phuket I paid close to 5,000 baht one way.

There will be an additional 1,000 baht or so to go from Phuket Airport to Khao Lak, but that is no big deal and is quite reasonable. I will be booking with the Boss again as he has the best prices in town.

Looking to spend another enjoyable 3 weeks at the beach metal detecting and hope my wife and daughter join in. Bungalow is booked already – 1 kilometer from the beach, A/C, swimming pool, WiFi, refrigerator, and free breakfast – 950 baht.
