Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul was kicked out of her prestigious position as Minister of Tourism and Sports for failing for the third straight year to fix Thai tourism. Her biggest accomplishment was changing the definition of “foreign tourists” or “international tourists” to, first “foreign visitors” or “international visitors”, to, finally “foreign arrivals” or “international arrivals”. This gave the impression that tourism was booming when just the opposite was true.
Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul will be best known for failing every step of the way during the last three years – from recommending that all tourists be given tracking wristbands, like common criminals, to promoting toilets, using underage children as tour guides, promising to rid Pattaya of prostitutes claiming foreigners go there for the culture, and receiving the coveted Golden Durian Award for doing her best to keep foreigners away from Thailand. More of her nonsense here.
So, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul will join Hillary Clinton on her Asian leg of the “What Happened” book tour with Miss Kobarn adding additional reasons for failure. Hillary already has a laundry list of reasons she lost the 2016 election and Kobkarn will provide additional resources locally that HRC can use when she goes back to America.
Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul will blame her failures on drought, floods, insurgents, bombings, ruble crash, Zero-baht tours, Uighurs, taxi mafia, jet ski scams, illegal tour guides, red shirts, yellow shirts, and unsafe tourists dying at record rates.
She will also blame the Tourism Authority of Thailand for their continued cluelessness, campaigns that are the same every year with only title changes, inability to come up with a new slogan to replace “Amazing Thailand”, and daily theft of photos online.
Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul will team up with Hillary Clinton and see if the FBI, James Comey, the Russians, Donna Brazile, illegal servers, deleted emails, Bill’s sexual misdeeds, hackers, HRCs health, and fake news in general were also reasons she got sacked.
Miss Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul hasn’t said if she will contest the sacking or if she will protest the hiring of Weerasak Kowsurat, who held the post in the Samak Sundaravej administration in 2008.
“I can always go back to selling rice cookers” she mumbled as she left the interview in tears.
