Tourism Authority Of Thailand Happiness Street Festival

The Tourism Authority of Thailand hasn’t a clue on how to promote to foreigners and this is obvious with the upcoming Happiness Street Festival to be held 25-26 July 2014 in Bangkok.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand continues to market to local Thais and somehow thinks that foreigners will magically appear.

So far the Tourism Authority of Thailand has announced this via the National News Bureau and a couple of images via Facebook but only tell us that there will be the same old shit as at any Thai market – some music, food, and vendors selling crap.  How will this attract foreigners?

Inviting 800 bloggers and paying for their holidays in Thailand is the Tourism Authority of Thailand way of promoting the country.  A well written press release would get wider coverage at a fraction of the cost but the Tourism Authority of Thailand International Public Relations Department has no idea how to market outside of Thailand.

Tourism to Thailand was down almost 25% in the month of June (compared to June 2013) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand is holding a street festival for Bangkokians.  Promoting Thainess, Happiness, and Fun isn’t much of a marketing strategy.

Maybe the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand will lead us all in General Prayuth’s hot new single:

The Tourism Authority of Thailand needs to face reality and understand that no one wants to visit Thailand under a dictatorship.
